Frequently asked questions

Below are some of the most common questions I receive about our mosaics, artistic process, and the unique nature of Cruciform Arts. We hope these answers provide clarity and insight into our work.

How much work is involved in creating each piece and how much time does it take?

Each panel involves 15-20 hours of mosaic design, hand cutting, placement, finishing, grouting, cleaning and sealing. I complete only a few pieces per month to maintain quality and intention. Shrines, triptychs and wood panels require less time but still some pieces can take up to 10 hours to complete.

What makes your modern Christian relics and shrines different from other religious art?

Our pieces are not mass-produced. Each one is created by hand, by one person, one at a time, in devotion. They are true pieces of art, embodying both old-world craftsmanship and modern aesthetics. No panel will ever be replicated exactly. Some themes may reappear, but I do not duplicate designs. Each piece is created as a singular expression of faith.

Are these pieces religiously consecrated?

While not formally consecrated, each work is created with prayer and dedication. It is my sincere hope that the finished piece serves as a quiet visual invitation to reflection, devotion, and spiritual grounding.

What materials do you use?

Each panel is generally created on heavy 2 x 12 lumber and features materials such as stone, glass, ceramic, grout, gold accents, miscellaneous findings, paint, and natural finishes. No two layouts are ever identical. Shrines, Triptychs and Rustic Panels are created with cut lumber and/or recycled pallet wood.

Do the panels come with mounting hardware?

Yes. Each panel includes heavy duty hanging hardware installed on the back. These pieces are built on solid wood panels for stability and can be hung like fine art. Due to weight, I strongly recommend using secure wall hooks.

 How heavy are they?

Each mosaic piece weighs between 4–8 pounds, depending on size and materials. I use a significant amount of tile, glass and grout which all add to the weight of the base piece of lumber.

How is shipping handled?

Each piece is carefully packaged using a custom protective felt sleeve, bubble wrap, and a reinforced shipping box. Artwork typically ships via UPS or USPS Priority in the U.S. A signature may be required upon delivery.

Why does shipping cost so much?

Because of the weight, size, and need for protective packaging, shipping costs are higher than standard prints or canvas products. I do not profit from shipping — it is billed only to cover packaging and carrier charges.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently I only ship within the United States.  While I would consider shipping internationally,  there would be a significant shipping fee due to weight, and I would have a serious concern that items could arrive damaged.

What hesitations or concerns do potential buyers usually have before purchasing your art?

Price is a common concern, as well as the fact that we are new in business and may not have many reviews yet. We understand these hesitations and are committed to building trust through quality and service.

What do you want people to know or understand *before* they buy your art?

My hope is that a purchased item from Cruciform Arts will become a significant part of your sacred space, and draw you into deeper reflection and worship. Each piece is made with intention and care.

What if I can't afford something I love?

My goal is that these pieces reach the people they are meant for. If you feel a strong connection to a piece but price is a concern, please reach out. I offer sincere conversation, possible payment plans, and limited introductory pricing. I don’t negotiate through comments but always respond respectfully in private.

Can I donate a piece to my church or ministry?

Yes — I would be honored. Some donors choose to gift a panel to a parish, chapel, or retreat space. A considerable number of my pieces have been donated to a local parish here in my community.
